Code of Conduct
The events hosted or sponsored by Forward Libraries should be an inclusive and respectful environment for all participants. To ensure a positive and enriching experience for everyone, we expect that all participants will abide by the following code of conduct:
Respect and Inclusivity:
Treat all participants with respect and dignity.
Acknowledge and consider the diversity of perspectives, experiences, and ideas that participants and experts bring to the space.
Foster an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and valued, and where their voices are heard.
Open-Mindedness:
Be open to different viewpoints and be willing to engage in constructive discussions.
Listen attentively to others and consider their perspectives before forming opinions or responding.
Be receptive to feedback and be willing to learn and grow from the insights and experiences of others.
Professionalism:
Maintain a professional demeanor, both in verbal and written communication.
Refrain from engaging in personal attacks, offensive language, or any form of harassment, including but not limited to, sexual harassment, discrimination, or bullying.
Avoid disruptive behavior that may hinder the learning experience of others or negatively impact the overall program.
Privacy:
Respect the privacy of others by refraining from sharing personal or sensitive information about participants without their explicit consent.
Some conversations, sessions, and presentations may invoke the Chatham House Rule if particular discussions may be sensitive or vulnerable to misinterpretation.
Collaboration and Engagement:
Actively participate in sessions, discussions, and group activities, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Share ideas, experiences, and resources in a constructive and supportive manner, contributing to the collective growth of the community.
Encourage and empower others to participate, ensuring that everyone has equal opportunities to contribute and learn.
Reporting and Enforcement:
If you witness or experience behavior that violates this code of conduct, promptly report it to hi@forwardlibraries.org or use built-in methods of reporting content or people.
League of Awesome Librarians:
Report content: open the content, click the three dots in the upper right corner, select more, click report [article, question, post]. This will generate a notification for hosts to review the content.
Report people: Select the account, click the three dots in the upper right corner, select more, click report [name], select a reason. This will generate a notification for hosts to review the account.
The organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action, including warning, removing, or banning individuals who engage in behavior that is deemed disruptive, disrespectful, or harmful to others. Users that are removed due to such actions will not be issued a refund.
Remember that events hosted by Forward Libraries are spaces for professional development, networking, and learning. By adhering to this code of conduct, we can create an inclusive and respectful environment where all participants can thrive and grow together.
